HomeThe time for admission to the doctoral program is not strictly determined. Any person willing to study on a doctoral program at UG, can address the PhD Program Manager and register for the program any time of the year, in the second half of the month (15-30).
The candidates pass the following three stages during their admission:
- Submittal of documents
- Registration for the academic year
- Concluding agreement / contract with the University
Candidates of study for the doctoral programs must present:
- The original and copy of the Master’s diploma,
- Two letters of reference from an acting scientist or scholars that hold a PhD degree
- Two photos, 3X4;
- At least one work published in one of the international publications that are anknowledged by the UG School the applicant is applying to. The candidate may present a copy of the publication.

A special application form. The application form is available with the UG PhD Manager or can be downloaded from the university webpage: www.ug.edu.ge
If the PhD candidate has no publications in scientific journals, he/she can present a Master’s thesis, or the part of the Master’s thesis that he/she deems as most significant. The Defence Council will get acquainted with the Master’s thesis, have an interview with the candidate and decide on whether the applicant can be accepted to the program.
