The University of Georgia employs a modern credit-based evaluation policy, which is based on the experience of American and European institutions. The credit calculation is based on the European Credit System (ECTs):
- 1 ECT=25 hours. Out of these 25 hours:
- 5 - lecture hours
- 14/16 hours – individual and practical work of a student, presentation, preparation of a thesis
- 4/6 hours – exams: midterm exam (one or two), final exam
Doctoral Program consists of 180 ECTs, where Lecture-seminars are 30 ECTs – 10 ECTs per year; Pedagogic internship – 18 ECTs – 6 ECTs per year:

- Publications -12 ECTs – 4 ECTs per year
- Research/Dissertation - 108 – 36 credits per year.
