The Mission of the University

The mission of the University of Georgia is to educate professionals who will be equipped with modern practical, theoretical and methodological knowledge and will contribute to the transformation of the outdated, unlawful and non-democratic society into a modern democratic, developed community with a high level of civil consciousness, a rule of law and ethical standards.

The XXI century is the epoch of globalization. Some believe that the cultures and civilizations of big nations threaten to devour small nations like Georgia. In reality, societies must be aware that what actually threatens big and small nations equally is backwardness and ignorance. Progressive ideas and progressive experience, copying and using the achievements of other nations never harm national cultures. Just the opposite, this only enriches and empowers them. We can illustrate this with thousands of examples from the long history of existence of the Georgian culture.

 

The mission of the university is not to fight the process of globalization that are underway in the world, that would mean swimming against the current. Rather it is to take advantage of the opportunities that globalization unfolds for the revival and strengthening of the Georgian culture and civilization. The implementation of modern knowledge and skills in the country through various activities and programs will contribute to the economic growth of the state, the restoration of territorial integrity and the education of the law-abiding civil society.

The University of Georgia seeks to interest the youth of South Caucasia, Europe and the world in general to come to Georgia and study with the University’s programs. The University also offers the students who express the interest opportunities for studying abroad in various foreign universities, by having exchange programs created on the basis of partnerships with these universities.

• In the era of modern advanced technologies, provide students with a multidisciplinary education and foster their creative thinking skills, so they develop as fully viable specialists.
• The modern epoch demands the continuity of process of education. Anyone willing to proceed with their career is obliged to seek professional development through trainings, professional enhancement courses and programs or mastering new professions. It is the goal of the university to work out special programs aimed at providing an opportunity for those working in various fields of social sciences to acquire new knowledge and skills as well as refresh and update the competencies that they already have. 
•  Serve the interests of the nation. National interests require not false emotions but preparation of textbooks that are currently nonexistent in the Georgian language, preparation of special terminology, and introduction into society of contemporary knowledge. In the long run, this will improve the living standards of our citizens and will provide a foundation for the advance and success of the Georgian culture and civilization.
