About the School

Current situation and brief excursion into history:

After the crucial events of 90-ies, Healthcare system in Georgia was in collapse; On December 31, 1995, then the Head of the State issued decree 'On Reforming the Healthcare System', according to which the system was transformed from the Semashko to National Georgian model encompassing the best experience of modern analogues.

First of all, qualitatively new kind of healthcare systems has been established – based on functioning of modern epidemiological services, methodologies of healthy way of life, prevention of diseases and supporting health activities.

Success in this field may be measured by facts like acknowledging Georgia as Poliomyelitis-free zone, eliminating Diphtheria and especially, Iodine-deficiency epidemics, forming efficient infrastructure for public healthcare, and so on.

But the problem that is still in view is the lack of human resources with adequate education and competences, and our School aims at solving this very problem. For this purpose we have invited lecturers and Associated professors with unique experience from Scranton and Central Florida Universities;

Mission

Improving healthcare situation throughout Georgia by means of bringing up appropriate intellectual recourses, developing advanced research programs and writing the recommendations.

Goals

Bringing up, through appropriate healthcare programs, qualified specialists according to Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral degrees; developing professionalism and quality care.

Challenges

Preparing educational programs according to modern demands;
Designing and performing short-term modules for improving professional skills;
Enlarging international relations with foreign universities – aiming at delivering qualitative education.
Producing and delivering Market-oriented educational products;
Carrying on scientific research activities;
Reinforcing the lecturers' competences.
Carrying on consulting activities;
Guaranteeing opportunities for students best practices and knowledge improvement.
Implementing the Bachelor and Master studies in Nursing.

Masters Programs – Management of Public Health, Health Administration; joint programs with the Law School and the School of Social Sciences: Health Legislation, Healthcare policy; Hospital Management and Special direction in Business Administeration Program – Healthcare Insurance Management.
