The University of Georgia Library

History

As the University of Georgia itself, the library was founded in 2004. The primary resources of the library had been based on donated books from the members of the board of trustees.

The founder of the University, Giuli Alasania, contributed the part of her home library when our University was known as The Georgian University of Social Sciences; at the same period, in addition to these books, Manana Sanadze contributed 600, her husband – Merab Topuria – 800, and her brother Vladimer Sanadze -200 books. Edward Raupp, also Kentucky University professor, Virginia Nardon, Lanselot Pletcher, the citizen of the USA enriched our library with 3000 electronic books.

In 2008-2010 University members took great part in enrichment of the library resources, namely, the professors Tamaz Beradze, Maia Chkhartishvili, Temur Gvimradze and Mariam Avalishvili.

Today the UG Library has newest books and text-books in all the subjects that are taught in different programs at the university. That gives the students opportunity to deepen their knowledge without obstacles through provision of necessary literature on the territory of the university.
