26.10.2009 | On October 21, 14:00 pm., presentation of the association of the private universities was held in Tbilisi Marriott hotel.

The Association aims at encouraging innovative and efficient private education system in Georgia. The founders are UG, Tbilisi Independent University, Caucasus University, Black Sea International University, and Georgian-American University. In the frame of the event, covenant of Georgian Private Universities was signed. The founders elected the Head of Trustees Board of UG, Prof. Giuli Alasania as the Chair of the Association. .

06.06.2009 | UG – the smoking free facility

The Alliance for Tobacco Consuming Control calls Parliament of Georgia to demand some restrictions advertising their tobacco product in Georgia. The Healthcare School Director of the UG, Tamar Lobjanidze notes that ‘Smoking is damaging the social conditions of the population, causing lots of diseases. Since its foundation, UG is against smoking and calls young generation for the healthy way of life’. On May 31, 2010, the UG will award a prize for the education organization, the winner in the ‘Smoking Free Facility’ nomination.

14.05.2009 | Public lecture on ‘Contemporary Journalism’.

The themes were rather interesting for the students and a lot of questions were asked. The Dean of School of Journalism and Mass-communications, Natia Kaladze thinks that such meetings are important for students’ professional training and plans to carry on such activities.

27.12.2008 | Black & White Party

On December 27 Black & White Party was held in UG. Pantomime Theater Troup and rock-groups Cherry and Evaluation entertained the audience.

09.10.2008 | 2-Year anniversary of Anna Politkovskaya’s murder

The fund of Media Development and Georgian journalists held the ‘mute rally’ in front of the Russia Embassy in Tbilisi. This was the act of protest against the oppression on journalists. The UG students of the School of Journalism and Mass-communications also participated in this event

06.08.2008 | Vacations on the Kobuleti coast

The project aims at encouraging friendship and cordiality among the students of UG, facilitating healthy relations not only in formal, but also in informal environments. The University plans to carry on activities in this direction and implement similar projects on winter and mountain resorts. Thus, besides the traditional methods, the administration of UG aims at developing some new forms of encouragement.

16.06.2008 | “Summer Fun Festivities” in UG”

On June 16, “Summer Fun in UG” 2-week festivities started in the University of Georgia. Students of the Academy of Fine Arts opened the event with Body Art designing. Local rock-group The Glove entertained the audience. Some films were shown and then chess and Ping-pong Tournaments were held.

06.06.2008 | The ‘Helping Hand’ club visited the Kaspi orphanage

On June 1, On the International Day of Children, the UG ‘Helping Hand’ club provided charity event for the Kaspi region orphanage, bringing clothes and food for the abandoned children. This kind of events is going to become permanent for the club.
