The University of Georgia is Georgia’s highest-ranked private university, according to international university rankings. Its international recognition is reflected not in a single indicator, but across several important dimensions, including the quality and impact of research, academic reputation, international engagement, and digital visibility.
According to the Nature Index, the University of Georgia ranks #1 in Georgia this year and #1,716 globally. The index focuses on universities’ contributions to high-quality scientific research and publications in leading international scientific journals.
The University of Georgia’s growing international reputation is also reflected in the QS World University Rankings. In the latest QS rankings, published for 2027, the University of Georgia ranks #54 in Western Asia, shares positions #591-600 in Europe, and is placed in the #1,401–1,504 range globally. Within Georgia, the University of Georgia ranks second after Tbilisi State University.
According to the July 2026 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, the University of Georgia ranks #2,859 globally, placing it third among Georgian universities, after Tbilisi State University and Ilia State University. The ranking evaluates universities based on indicators related to their research activity, digital visibility, the quality and impact of their research, and their broader online presence.
The University of Georgia also ranks first among Georgian universities in this year’s SCImago Institutions Rankings and is among the top three universities in Georgia according to UniRank.org.
