On May 7, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed between the University of Georgia and the Dance Academy “Sukhishvilebi,” which will create and expand opportunities for sharing and implementing academic knowledge between the parties.
The signatories—Konstantine Topuria (Rector of the University of Georgia) and Nino (Nanuka) Sharashidze (Director of the Dance Academy “Sukhishvilebi”)—will, based on this agreement, deepen the production of academic knowledge in the field of arts education and advance the important mission of preparing modern professionals (choreographer-directors). This collaboration aims to support the development of choreographic art, particularly the preservation, promotion, and popularization of Georgian traditional and world folk dances as elements of intangible cultural heritage.
The Memorandum of Cooperation envisages that, within the University of Georgia’s undergraduate program in Georgian traditional and world folk dances, students will gain practical experience and carry out relevant activities. These include improving the quality of choreographic education and organizing various creative events such as choreographic masterclasses, seminars, festivals, class concerts, and folkloric expeditions.
