On March 1–3, 2024, the joint Spring School "Criminal Law and Human Rights," organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Institute of Georgian, German, and International Criminal Law, was held at Hotel Zuzumbo in Telavi.
Within the scope of the project, various topical issues were discussed, such as: the scope of state intervention in personal freedom; the influence of European law on Georgian criminal law; criminal law vs. fundamental rights; challenges in Georgian criminal procedure; stalking as a crime; sexual offenses—challenges in practice and in German criminal law; animal protection in German criminal law; legal protection and access to juvenile justice—achieved results and challenges.
The lectures and training sessions were led by the head of the school, Prof. Dr. Bachana Jishkariani, LL.M. (Munich), and guest lecturers: Mario Schütze, Coordinator of the German-Georgian Master's Program, and Nino Tsatsiashvili (General Prosecutor's Office).
Law students selected from various universities across Georgia participated in the event (University of Georgia, Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, East European University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, Gori State Teaching University, Sokhumi State University, International Black Sea University, Caucasus International University, and Georgian National University SEU).
