On December 10, the Olympiad "Young Lawyers for Constitutional Rights" opened at the Constitutional Court of Georgia. The event was organized by the Foundation for the Promotion of Legal Education, established by the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA). The event was opened by Teimuraz Tugushi, a judge of the Constitutional Court.
Eight teams from the following higher educational institutions are participating in the Olympiad: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University of Kutaisi, Free University of Tbilisi, and the University of Georgia. The participants are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year undergraduate law students.
Moot court competitions will be held over three days, culminating in the selection of the winning team, best claimant, best respondent, the choice of the Constitutional Court, and the winner of the Legal Education Promotion Fund prize.
The Olympiad will be presided over by a panel of judges comprising: Teimuraz Tugushi, member of the Constitutional Court (Head of the Panel); Giorgi Gotsiridze, Head of GYLA's Constitutional Litigation Team; and Vasil Zhizhiashvili, Constitutional Litigation Lawyer at GYLA.
The Olympiad will conclude on December 11, and participants will be awarded certificates.
The Olympiad has been organized in cooperation with the Constitutional Court for 15 years.
