On May 22–23, 2025, a two-day seminar and workshop titled "Contract Law Across Systems" was organized by the TOLES Legal English Centre Georgia at the University of Georgia and ELSA Tbilisi.
The seminar and workshop were led by Tsira Chorgoliani, a leading specialist in Legal English.
During the sessions, participants analyzed the key differences between Common Law and Civil Law systems, specifically through the lens of contract law. They discussed crucial topics such as the Elements of the Contract and Remedies in case of breach, which helped participants gain a better understanding of contract validity and enforcement mechanisms across different legal contexts.
The special value of the seminar was enhanced by the use of Legal English both in teaching and legal analysis. Participants studied core terminology and analyzed landmark case law, such as Balfour v Balfour, Merritt v Merritt, Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co, and Hadley v Baxendale—allowing for an organic integration of theoretical and practical knowledge throughout the learning process.
