On September 18, the University of Georgia hosted a presentation of the Georgian edition of Friedrich Hayek’s "The Road to Serfdom". Sandro Rakviashvili, author of the Georgian translation, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Georgian politician, led an interactive discussion on Hayek’s contribution to 20th-century economic thought and the continued relevance of his ideas. The discussion focused on the book’s exploration of economic and political freedom, as well as the different approaches to capitalism and socialism and their implications for modern society.
“The essence of liberal economics and its practical implications can be explored through Hayek’s "The Road to Serfdom". By making this work available in Georgian, we hope to give students and other readers greater access to these ideas and encourage critical thinking about economic models and their relevance to society,” said Sandro Rakviashvili.
Through its publishing activities, the University of Georgia continues to support the translation and publication of significant academic works, providing students with additional resources for learning and research.
