Professor Nina Porakishvili is a Professor and Doctor of Sciences and serves as Director of the Institute of Immunology and Molecular Medicine. She has completed two doctoral dissertations, one for the Doctor of Sciences degree and one for the Professorial qualification, awarded by the Attestation Commissions of the Soviet Union and Georgia. She is the founder of the first Department of Immunology in the South Caucasus, established at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Since 2002, she has worked as Principal lecturer and Leader of the Immunology and Medical Sciences several courses at the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom. Professor Nina Porakishvili developed Master's programs in Immunology and Haematology, teaches Immunology, Immunopathology, Immunotherapy, Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics. She has also developed the structure and functions of the Institute and oversees the establishment and development of laboratories and grant-funded research projects. Professor Nina Porakishvili is the author of numerous scientific publications in high-impact journals and the co-author of two monographs and four textbooks. She has supervised 25 doctoral dissertations in Georgia and the United Kingdom. In 1995-2005 Professor Porakishvili led several successful EU Tempus projects on the restructuring of education in Immunology and Biomedical Sciences in Georgia, and has been awarded the Order of Honour of Georgia.
