Beka Kovziashvili is a musician, Georgian folk singing educator, folklore researcher, and arts professional. His professional activities combine teaching Georgian traditional music and church chant, performance practice, folklore research, visual arts, and creative projects involving modern technologies.
From 2009 to 2013, Beka Kovziashvili graduated from Giorgi Mtatsmindeli University of Chant, specializing in Church Music. He also studied at the Faculty of Painting of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts named after Apollon Kutateladze and at the Tbilisi Art School named after Iakob Nikoladze, specializing in painting. From 1995 to 2002, he studied piano at the E. Mikeladze Music School.
Since 2013, Beka Kovziashvili has worked as a Georgian folk singing instructor at Giorgi Mtatsmindeli University of Chant. His teaching practice is based on both academic knowledge and many years of practical experience in Georgian traditional music. At the same time, he has been a musician with the “Dro” music group since 2012 and was a member of the folklore ensemble “Sakhioba” from 2007 to 2021. Since 2025, he has been a member of the Folklore Ensemble of the University of Georgia.
Church music also holds an important place in his professional experience. At different stages of his career, he led church choirs, including the choirs of the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Didube, and St. Nicholas Church.
Beka Kovziashvili’s activities also include field research and expeditions related to Georgian folklore. In 2008, he organized expeditions in various regions of Georgia, including Kartli and Kakheti.
His professional experience extends beyond the field of music. Since 2020, Beka Kovziashvili has been the founder and chief designer of PeriArt, a handmade leather accessories brand. From 2021 to 2023, he participated in the Netflix film “Extraction 2” as an actor and actor guardian.
Beka Kovziashvili is also involved in new creative projects at the intersection of modern technologies and art. In 2026, he is participating in an AI Film Generation Project, which aims to reconstruct various historical episodes using artificial intelligence.
Beka Kovziashvili also has international experience. Together with the folklore ensemble “Sakhioba,” he participated in international tours, concerts, and masterclasses organized for foreign participants, including representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Poland.
