Prof. Saeid Sahmani, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Georgia’s School of Science and Technology, has been ranked second among Georgian scientists in the field of Engineering and Technology, according to the AD Scientific Index.
The ranking evaluates individual researchers based on bibliometric indicators, including their h-index, i10-index, and citation scores, using data from Google Scholar. Prof. Sahmani’s position places him among the highest-ranked Georgian researchers in the Engineering and Technology category according to the index.
The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) is a system for analyzing and ranking the scientific performance of individual researchers. Unlike rankings that primarily assess universities or academic journals, the AD Scientific Index focuses on the research performance of individual scientists.
The index has been developed since 2021 and uses researchers’ total and most recent six-year values for several bibliometric indicators. These include the h-index, i10-index, and citation counts based on Google Scholar data.
The index uses a total of nine parameters to compare researchers across different academic fields and geographic levels.
According to the AD Scientific Index, Prof. Saeid Sahmani ranks second among Georgian scientists in Engineering and Technology.
The index provides rankings across 12 broad subject areas and 256 fields, as well as across institutions, countries, regions, and the global research community. This allows individual researchers to be compared within their respective fields and geographic categories.
The h-index is a bibliometric indicator that combines the number of a researcher's publications with the number of times those publications have been cited.
The i10-index measures the number of publications that have received at least 10 citations. Citation counts indicate how frequently a researcher's published work has been cited by other researchers.
These indicators do not measure every aspect of scientific work, but are commonly used to quantify elements of research productivity and citation impact.
