The University of Georgia is proud to announce that two academic staff members from the Law School have contributed to a new international volume: "Concern for Tomorrow: Integrating the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education." The volume is edited by Dominika Dzwonkowska, Paweł Borkowski, and Marcin Dahl. The book was published by Elipsa Publishing (Warsaw, 2026) with the support of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
Under Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), Professor Anna Pirtskhalashvili examines fundamental threats facing peaceful and just societies: violent conflicts, corruption, and the weakness of the rule of law. The author also explains the goal's targets and indicators, as well as the importance of accountable and transparent institutions.
Associate Professor Iraklı Samkharadze focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13 – Climate Action) and outlines how climate change policy has evolved in international law. The chapter reviews the goal's targets and indicators, as well as the interconnectedness of climate, energy, and the environment. The author also highlights climate justice and the European Union's leading role in climate law.
