On June 16-19, the University of Georgia participated in the International Conference - Healthy Campuses, which was held in Limerick, Ireland. The delegation of the University of Georgia was led by the Rector, Konstantine Topuria.

At the conference, Giorgi Bakhturidze, Associate Professor of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Georgia, presented the results of the University of Georgia's accession to the Okanagan Charter and the formation of the National Network of Healthy Universities in Georgia. In addition, meetings were held with the co-chairs of the international network: Rebecca Kennedy (University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA) and Matt Dolph (University of British Columbia, Canada), as well as with representatives of national networks from the USA, Germany, Australia, Turkey, Ireland and other countries.

The conference in Limerick also planned to renew the Okanagan Charter, the aim of which will be to better cope with modern global challenges and provide more support to universities. The University of Georgia is a signatory to the Okanagan Charter and, at the same time, the author of the initiative to establish a national network of universities in Georgia. Health promotion and preventive medicine are one of the main priorities of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Georgia.
