Everything starts with an idea — and a teacher’s influence!
On October 3, the first Teacher Impact Award ceremony was held at the University of Georgia, where three winning projects were announced. The competition’s knowledge partner, Biblusi, also selected its own favorite project. The Teacher Impact Award was held for the first time this year as part of the University of Georgia’s initiative, “University of Georgia for Teachers.”
The competition’s main criterion was not limited to a teacher’s experience or professional background. The focus was on ideas, projects, and initiatives that had created a real impact on students, schools, or the wider community.
The winners of the Teacher Impact Award are:
Temuri Sukhashvili — Marneuli Public School No. 2, project: “Integrating the Learning by Changing Community Model into Non-Formal Education”
Natia Uchava — Tbilisi Public School No. 126, project: “One Idea — Thousands of Impacts”
Lela Kotorashvili — Tbilisi Public School No. 59, project: “The Book — Walking Lessons”
All three winning teachers received a cash prize, a special award, and gifts.
It is also worth noting that the competition’s knowledge partner, Biblusi, selected its own favorite project.
The “Biblusi Favorite” award went to Natia Purtseladze from Baghdati Public School No. 2 for her project, “Sapovnela — A Non-Formal Education Space.” With the support of Biblusi, the library of Baghdati Public School No. 2 will be fully renovated, creating a modern and engaging educational space that will bring students even closer to books and reading.
The projects presented in the competition demonstrated that a teacher’s idea can go beyond the boundaries of a single lesson, classroom, or school and become a force for real change. The Teacher Impact Award is dedicated to discovering and recognizing individuals who turn their knowledge, ideas, and initiatives into meaningful impact.
The “University of Georgia for Teachers” initiative will continue to support teachers, promote the sharing of their experiences, and create new opportunities for their professional growth and development.
