The University of Georgia Professor Publishes TXT of the Constitution of Georgia in the International Encyclopaedia of Laws

29 October 2026

Dr Irakli Samkharadze, Associate Professor of EU Law at the University of Georgia School of Law, has authored the country report Georgia: TXT of the Constitution for the International Encyclopaedia of Laws (Constitutional Law series), published by Wolters Kluwer and now available on Kluwer Law Online.

The publication provides an up-to-date (2026) English translation of the Constitution of Georgia, accompanied by an Author’s Note tracing Georgian constitutionalism from the 1921 Constitution to the 2017-2018 reform and Georgia’s European integration path.

As the guardian of Georgia’s democracy, the Constitution enshrines popular sovereignty, fundamental rights and the rule of law. Making it accessible internationally reinforces these guarantees as the standard by which state power is measured. As a reliable English version in a leading global legal reference work, the publication is a valuable resource for scholars, practitioners, policymakers and students, both internationally and at the University of Georgia.
